Delaney Visited Georgia Hospitals

LAKE OCONEE, GEORGIA - Bob Delaney, retired NBA referee and veteran NJ State Trooper (Ret.) who worked with the FBI in an undercover joint task force to infiltrate organized crime operating in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, is now a Lake Country resident. He recently wrote a book entitled, “Heroes are Human” Lessons in Resilience, Courage, and Wisdom from the Covid Front Lines. The book published September 26, 2022.

The Georgia Writers Museum, Farmers and Merchants Bank, The Peoples Bank, The Plaza Arts Center, Reynolds Lake Oconee, Putnam General Hospital, Smith Communications, St Mary’s Good Samaritan, and Lake Oconee Dentistry sponsored the event that provided free, signed copies of the book to all employees of both hospitals.

Mr. Delaney personally delivered books to Good Samaritan on October 24th, and to Putnam General Hospital on October 25th. It was more emotional than expected, with comments such as “Thank you for caring about us,” “You remember every face” “the whiteboards… that stated “Please don’t let me die.” Employees were grateful to speak with Delaney and he was compassionate and quite interested and engaged in their struggles. Chip Bell stated, “Bob, your message was compelling, important, and delivered with great passion. It is an inspiration to all of us to witness someone who cares deeply about the lives of others and is willing to influence them to help each other and help themselves.” Bob Massey and Tracy Stickley both reiterated how honored they were to be involved in the event and grateful for the opportunity to thank the hospital employees.

Bob Delaney specifically wanted to honor, thank, and support all healthcare employees and their fellow community workers. He wrote the book for them. Putnam General Hospital thanks Bob Delaney and Lou Benjamin of The Writers Museum for their willingness to do this event and their hard work.
